Verbum Caro Factum Est

Answer
Why be pro-life? I mean, do you know what hyperemesis gravidarum, pre-eclampsia, and ectopic pregnancies are? Do you know all of the different ways that pregnancy can cause mental and emotional distress to a woman? Do you know what the maternal death rate (the death rate of women during pregnancy and childbirth) is here in the US? Do you know how emotionally scarring it can be to give a child up for adoption? Or do you just not care about any of that, just so long as no fetuses are being killed?

I care about babies being killed, and mothers having to live with the burden of that knowledge. I personally know enough women who suffer unbelievable amounts of pain because of their abortions. I understand your concern about difficult pregnancies, I care too. But killing a baby will only make a bad situation so much worse. As for the emotional and mental distress which pregnancy and adoption carries, it is nothing compared to the hurt of aborting a child. The maternal death rate is very high, the death rate of babies by abortion is unmatched. Furthermore, breast cancer, which is very closely tied to abortion, is even more of a problem than the maternal death rate. Their can be no doubt that the fetus is a human being, here are some of the scientific facts (and I would encourage you to check these out for yourself) :

-at 3.5 weeks, the baby’s heart begins to beat

-at 6 weeks, first brain waves are detectable

-at 8 weeks, fingerprints form

-at 12 weeks, a baby can suck it’s thumb

I understand your viewpoint, but it is for the good of both mothers and children that I am pro-life.

If you like, I would love to talk with you about this some more, and I will try to answer any other questions you might have.
